Subtracting to 100



Remember to show the way you worked out each question:

  1. 27-15=20-10=10
    -5 from the seven which =12
  2. 46-24=40-20=20
    6-4= 2
    so 20+2 = 22   
  3. 46-29= 46-20=26
        26-9=17
  1. 65-37=60-30=30
    30+5=35-7=28
  2. 82-58=82-50=32-8=24

Write the number sentence for each problem and show how you worked out your answer.

  1. If you had 76 cookies and your friend ate 38 of them.  How many would you have left?
76-38=
70-30=40+6=46-8=37

  1. If there was 52 leaves on a tree and 39 leaves fell off.  How many would be left on the tree?
    52-39=
    52-30=22-9=13
  2. If you had 43 lollies and your teacher ate some and you were left with 26.  How many did your teacher eat?
    43-26=
    43-20=23-6=17
  3. You had 36 felts and you left the lids off 18 of them.  How many still have lids on them?
    36-18=
    36-10=26-8=18
  4. There were 48 mandarins in the bucket, George ate 12, Mary ate 7 and Bob ate 9.  How many mandarins are left in the bucket?
       40-36=
      40-30=10+6=16
